Founder, Director, & Teacher
Caydi Dommeyer is an experienced outdoor educator dedicated to fostering a deep connection between children and the natural world. Growing up in a rural mountain town near Santa Barbara, California, Caydi developed a lifelong passion for the outdoors, which now guides her mission to create enriching nature-based learning experiences for the next generation.
Over the past nine years, Caydi has held various leadership roles in outdoor education, including farm-camp counselor, elementary school garden educator, and lead forest school teacher. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Global Studies with an emphasis on food systems and a minor in Visual and Public Art from California State University, Monterey Bay in 2013. Her academic studies highlighted the challenges of large-scale corporate farming and the importance of sustainable food systems, inspiring her commitment to organic farming and educational outreach.
After returning to Santa Barbara, Caydi expanded her expertise by studying Environmental Horticulture and Early Childhood Education at Santa Barbara City College. Her professional journey began with an apprenticeship at Fairview Gardens, an educational organic farm, where she led farm-based summer camps, after-school programs, and the SPROUTS! program for infants, toddlers, and parents.
Caydi then served as a Garden Educator for the nonprofit organization Explore Ecology, where she taught Pre-K through 8th-grade students, emphasizing nature awareness, gardening, and cooking with student-grown fruits & veggies. In 2020, she joined A Thousand Mornings Forest School as a lead teacher, helping establish its nature-based early childhood education program.
Driven by her vision of holistic, nature-centered learning, Caydi founded Tiny Seeds Forest School. This program represents the culmination of her passion & experience made visible. Through her work, Caydi aims to inspire future generations to care for the environment and contribute to a healthier, happier, more sustainable world.
